Design Approach

Not all of our clients complete their projects all at once. Even so, they value the expertise that professional designers offer. They come to us with a particular project that they want to do, and then tell us about the others they intend to do in the future. Upon hearing this, we usually recommend that they step back and look at what they are hoping to achieve as a final result once everything is done, by preparing a "Master Plan." This approach takes an overall look at the separate smaller projects as though they were going to be done together.  This almost always reveals opportunities to improve the whole of the house in the process. This means that once all of the remodel work is finally done, the home will look and live as a well-conceived whole. There are several other important benefits to this approach. The first is logistical. Work that is done first anticipates the requirements of work that will be done in the future. In addition to the aesthetic benefits, this also leads to financial savings.  Earlier work doesn't have to be torn out or modified for later work. Also, by looking at the entire job, there are often opportunities to bundle parts of work together for more savings. When H+H prepares a "Master Plan" it includes phasing recommendations for logical portions of work to be done first, second, third, etc., along with budget estimates for each phase. This gives our Clients a plan for completing their remodel, with the confidence that the process and costs are known before they begin each phase of work.
